Scour Evaluation
An in-depth scour evaluation program for bridges consists
of a multi-phased process that includes data collection
and interpretation; stream stability and scour analysis;
structural and geotechnical analysis; hydrologic and
hydraulic analysis; and the design of any required scour
countermeasures. Collins’ multi-disciplinary scour
evaluation team includes specialists in hydraulic, structural
and geotechnical engineering. With over 10,000 bridges
inspected underwater, and over 2,500 bridges evaluated
for scour, Collins understands the problems of scour
firsthand and has a solid record of successfully assisting
public and private sector efforts to inventory and evaluate
the scour susceptibility of bridges. Collins is also
familiar with the implementation of BA 74 ‘The
Assessment of Scour at Highway Bridges’ published
by the UK Highways Agency.
